Review | I Got Lash Extensions (again)
If you’ve been following me for a while you might remember that a few years ago I got eyelash extensions for the first time. At the time I posted a review on my old blog and I’ve gotten them a couple of times since then but haven’t kept them consistently over the years.
I thought that with the holidays coming it would be fun to get them again! This time I went to one of my best friends who is an eyelash technician in Woodstock New Brunswick. I’ve gotten lash extensions from her before and I obviously trust her, since she’s one of my best friends.
You can find her HERE
She has a super comfy set up, with a heating pad on the bed for you to lay on. I probably would have fallen asleep had we not been talking and laughing so much.
I just wanted to talk about the process itself a bit in case you’re reading this and haven’t gotten them before. I am NOT an expert, so if you’re interested in getting them, do some research or if you’re in the Woodstock area, message her!
To put this as simply as possible- you lay down, she puts sticky pads on your eyes to keep the top and bottom lashes separate, and then you relax as she glues the little individual lashes on. There is no pain or discomfort at all. When I first got my lashes done a few years ago, my biggest issue was keeping my eyes shut that long while awake. It’s super weird at first if you aren’t used to it, and your eyes may naturally want to open. The lash technicians are used to that and will help relax you as much as possible.
The photo below is after my first fill last week!
Before wearing makeup, make sure to google what makeup and skin care products are eyelash extension safe. Generally you want to avoid anything with oils, or anything hard to remove like waterproof eyeliner.
Again, not an expert , BUT I’ve read that our lashes also go through different shedding cycles, so there may be times when you lose more lashes than usual, and that’s totally normal.
Sleeping
I haven’t had any issues sleeping with my lashes. I’m a stomach/side sleeper so I was worried about them getting smashed into my pillow every night, but they’ve been totally fine and look normal when I wake up.
Waking up with lash extensions is the BEST because essentially you’re just instantly ready to go, you don’t need makeup at all. I choose to wear some makeup occasionally, but I’m totally comfortable and happy with how I look without it too.
Price wise, they usually start around $100 depending on where you go. Lashes aren’t something you want to cheap out on, because you want someone experienced doing them- for the sake of your eyes and your lashes.
I got hybrid lashes, which are a little more glam than the classics. I’ve had classics before from another business and didn’t feel like they were “enough”, so I’m super happy I went with the hybrids.
If you’re in the Woodstock area, definitely message Kelsey! Not only will you be getting great lashes, but you’ll be supporting a local mom (with twins!).
I’ll keep you guys updated on Instastories!
