11 Ways To Celebrate New Year's Eve Solo
Maybe you’re alone on New Year’s Eve because the pandemic is keeping you from your usual scene. Maybe you’re single and don’t want to be a fifth wheel. Regardless of the why you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve alone, there are a lot of things you can do to make ringing in the New Year solo not suck.
Host A Virtual New Year’s Eve Bash
You may be alone physically, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have virtual company. Round up some of your solo friends and family and invite them to a virtual NYE bash on Zoom. Put up some decorations in the background, pour some bubbly and cheers from afar.
Take Yourself To Dinner & A Movie
There’s no shame in taking yourself on dates, and NYE is the perfect time to get out and do something. Go for a coffee at your favourite cafè, grab dinner, and go see a movie. Or alternatively if your city is under a pandemic lockdown, order in and have a movie marathon at home.
Get Outside
Go for a hike, take your dog to the dog park, build a snowman with your kids, etc.
Have A Spa Night At Home
Break open all of those new bath bombs, face masks, lotions etc from Christmas and have a spa night at home. Take it a step further and pour yourself a glass of champagne and hit those end of the year online sales with your holiday gift cards.
Do Some Letting Go
The end of a year is the perfect time to let go of whatever has been holding you back. This year, New Years Eve follows the December 29th full moon, and full moons are meant for releasing. Write a list of what you want to release (habits, relationships, limiting beliefs), and burn it, rip it up, bury it etc. Take a deep breath, and let it go.
Clean Your House
Okay, this one isn’t really celebrating, but there’s an old superstition that says you should have a clean house by January 1st so you aren’t carrying any old dirt into the new year. I guess pouring yourself a glass of merlot while cleaning could make it a celebration.
Make A New Playlist & Dance In Your Underwear
I always make a new playlist going into the new year. The right kind of music can set your mood and vibe for new beginnings. Currently, I’m obsessed with Taylor Swift’s new album Evermore, so there will definitely be some of that making its way to my New Year playlist.
Take A Shower & A Nap
Who says you have to do something significant on NYE? Take a nice long shower - do the hair masks, exfoliate, moisturize- the whole shebang. Then put fresh new sheets on your bed and crawl in with freshly shaved legs ( you know that’s the best feeling ever), pull a sleep mask over your eyes, put on a sound machine with ocean or storm sounds and take a long ass nap. If you young have kids, you can do this after they go to bed.
Spend Time On Your Hobby
If there’s a hobby you want to spend more time on in the New Year, why not get a head start and work on it now? Write some pages for your novel, finish the needlepoint you’ve been working on, edit some photos, etc.
Host A Fun Night For Your Kids
If you have kids, you aren’t really solo on NYE, and there are lots of fun things you can plan! Go buy some glow sticks and sparklers, break out the board games, order in, buy some snacks and fun props and have a fun night at home.
Write Down Your Top Goals For 2021
After you let go of what needs to be released, focus on what you want to manifest in 2021. What goals do you want to accomplish? What plans do you have for your business? Make it into a vision board, start a new manifestation journal, etc.
How are you ringing in 2021?
